When my daughter Ashlee went into treatment at Retreat for opioid abuse, I had no idea what to expect. She had been through unsuccessful inpatient stays at other facilities before, and nothing worked in the long run. But as soon as she arrived, I could tell that Retreat was different. The program took superb care of her and Ashlee’s primary care therapist kept me apprised of her progress in the program during her month long stay. Once she graduated the program, Retreat helped transition her into a sober living home that enabled her to take those first few steps toward recovery with strength and confidence. Six years later, she’s remained sober and has a new lease on life — and I have my daughter back. I owe it to Retreat for the fresh start that Ashlee’s gotten, and would feel comfortable encouraging any parent in my position to send their “Christine S.”

As a mom, sending my son Taylor to Retreat for treatment for his opioid addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders meant turning my flesh and blood over to a place that I prayed would give him his life back. There’s nothing more serious than entrusting your own child to someone else’s care, but Retreat earned my trust and came through, helping him overcome this disease and become the amazing young man he is today. I was especially impressed with Retreat’s psychological and psychiatric evaluation services that were able to diagnose him with multiple other mental health disorders which they addressed — because, after all, if you don’t treat the underlying issues that caused the substance abuse in the first place, how can you effectively help someone get and stay sober? In addition to all that, the family engagement at Retreat is remarkable — they really make an effort to make “Betsy B.”

Retreat was instrumental in saving my daughter Jenna’s life. The program’s daily group meeting structure along with private clinical therapy sessions gave her a solid foundation on which she could begin her road to recovery. As far as the staff go — as a mom, I owe so much to them. They were extremely helpful, compassionate, and caring in giving us insight into the thought process of someone living with addiction, and what we could do as a family to make a difference. After treatment, the Patient Care Coordination team made sure Jenna transitioned smoothly from rehab into sober living, and now, in February, we’ll celebrate her three years in recovery. Ultimately, Retreat gave me my beautiful daughter back.
