As a mom, sending my son Taylor to Retreat for treatment for his opioid addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders meant turning my flesh and blood over to a place that I prayed would give him his life back. There’s nothing more serious than entrusting your own child to someone else’s care, but Retreat earned my trust and came through, helping him overcome this disease and become the amazing young man he is today. I was especially impressed with Retreat’s psychological and psychiatric evaluation services that were able to diagnose him with multiple other mental health disorders which they addressed — because, after all, if you don’t treat the underlying issues that caused the substance abuse in the first place, how can you effectively help someone get and stay sober? In addition to all that, the family engagement at Retreat is remarkable — they really make an effort to make parents and loved ones feel included in the process, and are filled with compassion and empathy for everything that we, as families, are enduring. I’m so grateful for this wonderful place and the people there — and that, because of Retreat, my son’s addiction is firmly behind us.
